Teacher Showcase - Nicola Salt - Staffordshire University

I am PGCE D&T student completing the SKE pre course and currently being trained by Tim Brotherhood. I was asked to design a small/medium storage device inspired by an art movement. As you can see I chose art deco, which is a style I adore, and have designed a makeup brush holder. It is currently a work in progress and I also plan to add a detachable handheld mirror.

Jewellery Design

A year 9 project. Pupils design jewellery based on the company Tatty Devine. Designs are drawn on Creo, then exported as DXF or DWG files and imported in Illustrator and then cut out in acrylic using a laser cutter. This project was originally devised using ProDsktop 8 and Corel Draw.

Teacher Showcase -Nikola Clarke - Staffordshire University

I am currently on my SKE course at Staffordshire University where Tim Brotherhood is training me on Creo. This is my first attempt at the tea light project; where I decided to create a butterfly feel stand to hold up the tea light. I will use this project when I am at school to introduce children to Creo.

Teacher Showcase -Nikola Clarke - Staffordshire University

I am currently on my SKE course at Staffordshire University where Tim Brotherhood is training me on Creo. I have recently just got back from holiday and decided to recreate the plastic popcorn holder I brought while I was away. To create this I used the Blend, Shell, Extrude and Text tool. I think Creo is an excellent tool that I intend to introduce into schools when I begin my PGCE in September. I will use simple projects such as the tea light holder and USB stick to give the children an understanding of Creo. I will then move on to more advanced projects to get them ready to design their own products at GCSE and A level.

Teacher Show Case

Trainer John Lee of Sheffield Hallam University. The USB casing is a idea shared with us from our trainer. We were shown USB sticks students had made. I thought this would be a good starter project for myself and my KS4 students. I felt is was a good project having a 'bought component' at the centre of a two-part assembly. I drew the circuit from scratch having misplaced the original file. Then using the project tool selected the information relavant to creating a new drawing. I then constructed left-half of the casing- once this was done I used the same drawing and made the right hand side. I extruded my name on one side and used the pattern tool to add dimples to the other side. I envisage using Creo with my KS4 students. I will introduce it to Year 9 as they now opt early. Our students do little CAD 3d drawing at the moment. This software will allow them to enhance their understanding of drawing in 3d and improve their grasp of how products are assembled.

Teacher showcase - Daniel Grant - Bradfield School

This MP3 amplifier was part of the CAD CAM training I received at Sheffield Hallam University under John Lee. The design drew inspiration from natural curves found in nature, specifically from sea shells and dried leaves. I wanted to combine various materials into the product and used Creo to realise my ideas. These designs were then machined on a CNC router, finished by hand and had pewter poured into the routed channels. At Bradfield School I shall be using Creo to simulate can crushers, design 3D printed headphone wraps and produce the F1 in schools team's race car.

Teacher Showcase - Andre Boulton - Claires Court School

Accreditation task images. Trained by John Myerson. I decided to model a new project prior to actual building in the workshop to enable pupils to visualise the project. It also allowed me to showcase Creo to them. We will be introducing Creo to pupils as part of their CAD work so that over time they will be able to use it independently and 3D print their creations.

An Introduction to using Style for Surfacing

This is a selection of images I have created to try to inspire our students to put the effort into learning to use the Style Tool in Creo. We will also be using Freestyle to try to recreate the same model after using Curves and Surfaces.

A collection of rendered images of Clocks and Clock Mechanisms created with Creo2 Parametric Schools Edition. These have been prepared to help with the teaching of a short module which involves the design and manufacture of a clock using a standard Quartz mechanism. The Design Brief states that the clock must be able to hang or stand freely on a desktop.

Mechanical Toy from Elaine Sigston

The Mechanical Toy project is a Year 8 introduction to mechanisms. The pupils learn to measure and mark out the body, wheels, axles, head, tail and cam. The body is made out of Hardboard and marked out and cut as a pair using double sided tape to hold the rough inside edges together. The wheels and cam are plywood and the axels are doweling. The pupils actually have a choice of three basic character of which this is one and the more able are allowed to be more creative and turn these designs into their own characters ie Dragons!
