Rushden Academy Wall mounted drawer unit

The design is for a wall unit with a draw to include four types of joints , finger joint, through mortise and tenon , lap joint and butt joint. Starting with the unit sides using front plane to draw rectangle altering to required size and extruding, then adding the joints deleting lines not required I then extruded again with through all tab to make the finger joints and mortise holes. Then repeating this process for all the components. Then opening new dialog box for the assembly of the unit starting with the side of the unit first. Using 3d dragger to place it were it wanted to be making sure it was fully constrained and saved. Then using the assemble tab added each component and saving until the unit was assembled I repeated this with the draw before adding to the unit assembly. This was then coloured using the appearance gallery in 2 different wood finishes to show the joints then rendered and saved.

Hedgey Desk Organisers from Colin Badland

The Centre main body: constructed of a series of diameters that were referenced to each other. Centre lines were added to ensuring that each diameter touched tangentially to one another. Once the outside shape was created, I used the delete segment tool, to remove unwanted lines from the drawing. On completion I was able to extrude the shape to a given thickness. A final touch was to select the front face where I added a circle for the eye, which was extruded through the body. The final touch was to render the drawing.

Teacher Showcase - Jon Holt - QEGS Wakefield

Trained by John Lee SHU Yr10 students manufacture a compound gearbox from Al section and Lego Technic components. I have draw the Al section, motor, gears and axles that are used and assembled them to produce a model of the gearbox. The separate parts will form a 'Parts Library' for students to model their own gearboxes to be produced on the ULS Laser Cutter for project work.

Teacher Showcase - Owen Doherty - Thomas Telford School

Included are a range of images produced on Creo illustrating how drawings were transformed from a simple 2D sketch, extruded into a 3D image and transformed into a fully rendered product. I was trained on Creo when I attended Sheffield Hallam University in 2012/2013 by John Lee and have since developed a growing understanding of the software and its capabilities. During my time at Sheffield Hallam I have used Creo to Design and Manufacture a range of products including a Coffee Table and an amplifier/speaker project. The link below depicts a step by step guide as to how the speaker was drawn and manufactured on the software. http://owen-doherty.blogspot.co.uk/

Sports Drinks Bottle - James Deprez

A sports drink bottle created by drawing a profile shape that has been revolved. Various mouldings have been added to the surface by editing the original sketch. Cylindrical shapes have been swept through the side of the bottle at angles and patterned vertically down the side. Additional nodules have been extruded to the curved surface, rounded and patterned 360 degrees around the neck of the bottle. The bottle was then shelled to 0.2mm. The screw-lid was created by copy and pasting part of the screw thread section of the bottle and editing to form the rest of the component, this was then revolved around a centreline. Additional finger grips were added by creating a cylindrical extrusion that was then patterned 360 degrees. The additional hygiene cap was created in a similar way.

Teacher Showcase - Nicola Salt - Staffordshire University

I am PGCE D&T student completing the SKE pre course and currently being trained by Tim Brotherhood. I was asked to design a small/medium storage device inspired by an art movement. As you can see I chose art deco, which is a style I adore, and have designed a makeup brush holder. It is currently a work in progress and I also plan to add a detachable handheld mirror.

I am currently on my SKE course at Staffordshire University where Tim Brotherhood is training me on Creo. This is my first attempt at the tea light project; where I decided to create a butterfly feel stand to hold up the tea light. I will use this project when I am at school to introduce children to Creo.

Teacher Showcase -Nikola Clarke - Staffordshire University

I am currently on my SKE course at Staffordshire University where Tim Brotherhood is training me on Creo. I have recently just got back from holiday and decided to recreate the plastic popcorn holder I brought while I was away. To create this I used the Blend, Shell, Extrude and Text tool. I think Creo is an excellent tool that I intend to introduce into schools when I begin my PGCE in September. I will use simple projects such as the tea light holder and USB stick to give the children an understanding of Creo. I will then move on to more advanced projects to get them ready to design their own products at GCSE and A level.
